Have you ever loved Laura Linney more?
The third season of Ozark will take you about 10 hours to watch. Like one long day of work, right? But you’ll be thinking about those 10 hours for months. Like a black hole, this family gets sucked deeper and deeper into this cartel lifestyle. If they’re not sneeky around on the cartel, they’re in bed with the FBI. I mean, that’s the stress that really gets to Greg. He’s constantly root for Marty Byrde (Jason Bateman), because he’s constantly trying to do the right thing. The problem is (think back to the first season), Marty started this. So, you know deep down that he’s capable of terrible things.
Then there’s Wendy (Laura Linney). A liberal white political hack from her days in Chicago, Wendy kind of enjoys the political intrigue; the manipulation and the winning. And that creates more trouble for Marty. Marty and Wendy love each other but they definitely want different things. Marty kinda wants to go back to the way things were 2 years ago (before season 1). Wendy does too – she’s feeling her oats and longs for those heydays of Chicago politics. She KNOWS she can rule the world – or at least the world they’ve found themselves in. I certainly get Wendy.
But, I’m not saying Greg is Marty and I’m Wendy. That would be silly. …Because our lives would be completely different, if I were like Wendy. 🙂
